Consumer Contracts in Scotland: Reforming the Law of Transfer of Ownership – Online Workshop - Thursday 8th October, 10 am – 1 pm
The Law Commission of England and Wales are currently consulting on proposals to reform the law of sale of goods. The proposals aim to better protect consumers in the event of retailer insolvency through amendments to the Sale of Goods Act 1979 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015. This workshop is an opportunity for stakeholders interested in responding to the consultation to discuss the Scots law implication of the proposals. Are changes to the draft Bill required to reflect Scots law rules on transfer of ownership or rights in insolvency?
The event will be chaired by Professor Frankie McCarthy, Scottish Law Commission.
Discussion will be led by:
- Lorna Richardson, Senior Lecturer in Commercial Law, University of Edinburgh
- Dr Alisdair MacPherson, Lecturer, Centre for Commercial Law, University of Aberdeen
- Scott Wortley, Lecturer in Commercial Law, University of Edinburgh
The workshop is free of charge and open to all. To register for the workshop and receive login details, please email: Stephen.Crilly@scotlawcom.gov.uk
